Daniel “Sly” Slipetsky
Daniel “Sly” Slipetsky is a jazz pianist/tuba player who has happily made Arizona his home since the summer of 1997. A native of Wilmington, Delaware, Sly began studying the piano at the ripe age of eight. Sly is true professional performing musician who has embraced most musical genre and performance settings including wind ensembles, orchestras, solo jazz piano, piano/vocal duets, jazz trios & quartets, big bands, salsa bands, (“trad”) jazz bands, banjo bands, theatrical accompaniment, and pop/Motown.

SLY AND THE GALS
All members of the Arizona Banjo Blasters, Sly the piano man, Cheri the banjo gal, and washboard Marj started this trio because of their love of piano/banjo music. What started out with Ragtime, Dixieland, and American standards has expanded to include Country, Folk, and some novelty tunes. Their music makes them smile and that is what they want to share with
others.

I’m John Hughes, and I really love what I do because I believe people appreciate music that sets a soothing, relaxing mood and gives a sense of elegance (even if it’s casually so) to their surroundings. Since middle school I’ve wanted to entertain people by playing music on clarinet (I wanted to be another Benny Goodman in middle school) and saxophone that helps them relax and unwind with some Jazz and Blues standards, celebrate good times with Motown hits and oldies, and even dance a little to romantic ballads, Bossa Nova favorites, and original material. Fortunately, because I’ve been able to develop my gift for music into skills with education and experience, I’ve been compensated quite well for my efforts and I’ve developed good relationships with my business clients, mainly finer restaurants, art galleries, wineries, and even a local tearoom in New Port Richey, FL, from where I and my wife Pam moved in 2021, relocating to Tucson, Arizona. Since then, I’ve been entertaining regularly at a Peruvian restaurant in Tucson, at area nursing homes and retirement facilities, various wineries throughout Arizona, and for the Historic Fourth Avenue Spring Street Fair in 2023 as well as private parties and events.
Having shared that, I’d like the opportunity to partner with you in providing an elegant (even if it’s casually so) dining and/or music listening experience for your guests. My rates are very reasonable, and I can provide references upon request. My calendar is filling up quickly, so please let me know when we can book a show.
